First, never let negative advice bother you. If a security guard’s wife complains about being a night guard, inform her that it’s not your fault and then tell her that she should go talk to her husband about it. The security guard job is stressful enough without adding more stress to an already challenging situation. If a security guard’s boss makes some disparaging remarks about him, simply ignore them. You may need to put some distance between you two, but it is important that she is unable to contact you again.

Most security guard jobs require you to be on your feet daily, sometimes for long periods at a time. If you work in an office building, it is important that you are comfortable with your legs. Dress well so that they do not hurt. Shoes and socks should be worn when working, wherever you’re working. If you can, try to discover a good closet which enables you more space so you can change your outfit easily without getting up.

When you’re thinking positively, you’ll find that you are happier and healthier. When you are thinking negatively, you tend to have more health problems. This is because negative thoughts tend to drain you of energy, which leads to you becoming angry and depressed. Rather, change your way of thinking to one of optimism. Think positively about your work and you’ll discover that it gets done better.

Change the way you think about anything that has to do with your job performance and you’ll notice the difference in your attitude and your own performance.
